Yogi Tea : A Tri-doshic Elixer

This healing, tri-doshic elixer strengthens the nervous system, energizes the body, clears & calms the mind, renews the blood, boosts digestion, cleanses organs, prevents illness & promotes internal balance - just to name a few of the benefits!

We make Yogi Tea fresh during our Rudra Yoga retreats.. and you can make your own at home! So many people have been asking us about this tea that we've decided to share the recipe here. Make it at home, share the recipe with your friends, and let us know what you think! It's recommended to try a cup a day for 30 days so one can truly observe the shifts in their body and overall experience!

A blend of Clove, Cardamom Pod, Cinnamon, Ginger Root and Black Pepper makes up this richly spiced tea that helps warm the body and stimulate digestion. A hint of Black Tea supports energy and milk is added to complement the spices.

Yogi Bhajan’s Recipe of “Yogi Tea”

Ingredients (for each cup of tea) :

10 ounces of water (about 1 1/3 cups)

3 whole Cloves

4 whole green Cardamom pods, cracked

4 whole Black Peppercorns

1/2 stick Cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon Black Tea

1/2 cup Milk (can be replaced with plant-based milk)

2 slices fresh Ginger Root

Cooking Instructions :

1) Bring water to a boil and add spices. Cover and boil 15-20 minutes, then add black tea. Let sit for a few minutes, then add milk and return to a boil. Don't let it boil over! When it reaches a boil, remove immediately from heat, strain, and sweeten with honey, if desired.

At our Rudra Yoga retreats we multiply the ingredients to make a large batch of tea that we can drink throughout the day. If you are making more than a single serving, don't add the milk to the batch, rather add milk to each individual cup!

We hope you love this tea as much as we do!!
